I canโt believe race day is almost here. I am both excited and nervous โ and which emotion I am feeling more switches minute-by-minute. In preparation for tomorrow, I went back and read all of my previous entries of this blog in the hopes of reconnecting with my updated goal of finishing and feeling strong. Iโve overcome a lot to get here, and while I am more used to racing for time, I am reminding myself that I deserve to have fun and feel proud regardless of what the clock reads.
Some logistics:
If you want to track me tomorrow, click this link to download the app and follow me. If youโre on the streets of NYC or watching any of the live cam feeds from the course, I will be wearing a black and white striped shirt with red shorts.
Below are some quick thoughts from the weekend thus far:
โจ Highlights
I got to meet Bode, the airport therapy dog, in Denver. Petting a dog for 5 minutes before boarding a plane makes flying 1000x better.
Getting delicious pasta takeout and watching the Great British Bake Off upon arrival last night.
Bib pickup was easy and I got some merch at the Expo.
๐ Iffy stuff
We drove across the Queensboro Bridge last night and I realized just how hilly this marathon will be. Related: my heart rate elevates every time I watch this course preview video.ย
Mild cold symptoms are back. Honestly, my standard is sniffles these days so I am trying not to worry about it.
My nerves are making it hard to eat. It took two sittings for me to finish my delicious NYC bagel this morning โ who am I??
โค๏ธ Grateful for
Bill is the best travel companion and is making this trip so easy for me.
All of your voice notes that I cannot wait to hear while I am running tomorrow.
The weather in NYC is crisp โ perfect running weather.ย
See you all on the other side. ๐ฝ
Definitely will be tracking you tomorrow. Claire! You got this! You trained and trained! You are ready to beat your best time! I'm very proud of you! Be proud of yourself!! I'm rooting for you!!
You certainly deserve to have fun and feel proud. We are certainly proud of you. Lots of love and go getโum!
